The garage door on a property is sometimes the first thing that someone sees if they visit your home and if the door is old and worn it does not give a good first impression. You may not see this as important but if you are trying to sell the property then first impressions and kerb appeal counts.

The easiest way to replace a garage door is to replace like with like as the fittings, hinges etc will probably be in the same places. However, to may be an opportunity to upgrade your garage door to a better type as there are many different styles and materials to choose from.

The most popular type of door and usually the cheapest is an up and over door usually made from steel or aluminium. These need to be fitted by a professional as it can be tricky getting them to fit properly and there will need to be rails fitted to the inside of the garage to enable the door to move. One thing that deters people from choosing this type of door is that as the door has to slide into the ceiling space it reduces the amount of storage space available in the garage. If this is an issue then a roller garage door is probably a better choice.
